Worth its weight in gold

Every penny spent on purchasing UK and Ireland maps for my GPS was worth it. It managed to guide us out of Heathrow and onto the M1, followed by a lunch stop at Sherwood Forrest. It was relatively easy to then drive to our cottage in Giggleswick on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

Without it, we would have taken ages to navigate our way through the confusing twists and turns of Bradford which we attempted three times in the one day - once on the way to Giggleswick, then twice more when we went into Leeds to pick Tom and Michele up from the train station.

There aren't too many speed signs over here and there are way too many speed cameras. Thank goodness the GPS states the speed limit - hopefully it has saved me a fine or two. There would have to be more than 10 fixed cameras between Bradford and Leeds with speed limits varying from 30mph in narrow built up areas to 40mph in the wider streets to 60mph in a single lane carriage way if an open speed limit sign is displayed to 70mph on a dual carriage way in an open speed limit area. The speed limit on the route through Bradford to Leeds varies between these at least 50 to 100 times and the speed cameras are located where the limits change. Nasty!
